Want your music played on Internet Radio?

Here’s a few tips…..

Before you even think of sending your music to a radio station there are a

couple of things to take into consideration…

1. First make sure the quality of the mix and mastering is of a good

standard, save as either MP3 or Wav file.

2. Ensure you send a radio edit, which doesn’t necessarily mean just

removing swear words, be careful of references to drugs, terrorism,

bombs, explicit sexual acts etc. if that’s what the song is about be subtle.

3. Please ensure that your MP3 Tags / META data are correct before

sending, You can check and modify your tags and meta data here -

Ready to upload/send?

1. Here on Rock Radio UK you just need to go to the Bands page on the

website, complete the form and up load it, it is now available for our 60

presenters to take a listen to.

2. To send it to other stations, I really recommend that you write a fairly

simple electronic press kit (EPK), who you are, where you are from, who

are your influences, a quote about the track, do you have any live shows

coming up. I don’t think we really need to know who else has played you

or a big dynamic description, I think most of the presenters will listen to

the track and base whether it will be played purely on what it sounds

like although there could be another consideration…

3. Make your email personal to the person you are sending it to, what I

mean by this, don’t send blanket emails and hope for the best. Start the

email with the name of the recipient, maybe include the name of the

show in the text and try and build a relationship with the presenter,

there’s a good chance you will get repeat plays. I know this is a long and

tedious process, but trust me it really does make a difference and will

definitely get you more plays than a blanket email.

Did we play it?

1. Hopefully the presenters will let you know that they are going to play

your track, if they do, please ensure that you support the presenter by

sharing any social media posts they post and let your fans know.

All of above of course is advise for bands to do the work themselves, you can

of course employ a plugger to send out to their contacts with who they have

already done the relationship building, but if funds are tight, take the extra

time.

Good luck.
